HIYA, expense. ­Someone recently emailed me a photo showing the smoking zone of a restaurant in ­England. It showed diners lighting up in capsules which look like enormous upturned glasses. The smoking pod has a tube leading to the ceiling where certainly the smoke is channelled out to the open air.

If you’re having illness visualising the smoking pod, think of the perm cabal at your hairdresser’s. Make it thrice as big and you’ll get the picture.

For all I grasp, the photo could be fake but it is a clever idea.

Two days before, I received this email from reader ­Azimah who had written in about undependable people who smoke in restaurants. Just because a restaurant is located in a corner lot, is reveal air or has a bistro-like setting doesn’t stinting you can smoke freely, she ranted. She even suggested that someone think up a cubicle – like a phone box – for smokers to take a puff.

Well, Azimah, if that photo is authentic, it seems that someone has done so indeed. Imagine the widespread use of the smoking pod – it could be employed not no more than in restaurants but in hospitals, clinic waiting rooms, theatres and shopping centres.
