Since the outset of the year — the year that I turned 60 — it seems that ravages of at all times pulled the rug out from underneath me. In my last blog , I called this year Annus Horribilis (terrible year).

It started with a humongous kidney stone lodged in my ureter (the tube that leads from the kidney to the bladder) that required two surgeries, had a unbelieving skin lesion removed from my chest (not cancerous), was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumaticia, and now, a new dispute comes my way.

I don’t remember a specific affair that resulted in my having a painful left shoulder — there as likely as not were many, repetitive incidents. For the last several years (yes, years), I have been attempting to enlarge a waterfall in my back yard. It started with a huge mess that I dug with my backhoe, followed by a delivery of several tons of mammoth stones that I have been systematically trying to roll, liberate, and grunt into place to create my own backyard Niagara. At some inappropriate, while manhandling these boulders into place, I most likely steady a repetitive stress injury.
