She doesn't take the prototypical build of an NFL signal-caller, nor does she abrade a helmet or shoulder pads. But make no mistake, Sarah Vaccaro is the quarterback of the Miramonte Heinous girls volleyball team.

Since her freshman year, Vaccaro has roamed the disconcert for the Mats' varsity squad. For the last two seasons, she has been the only starting setter for the group, which has moved to a 5-1 formation under coach Shannon Ross. As such, Vaccaro has become the Tom Brady to Ross' Bill Belichick -- a b coach on the floor.

"This season, in particular, she is the most top-level part of our team. Without a doubt," Ross said. "She's our captain, she's our boss. Sarah's one of those leaders who is very vocal, but she also leads by instance."

The rhythm of volleyball can be summed up in three words: bump, set, treenail. Given her position as the team's lone starting setter, it's not a span to say the Miramonte offense literally runs through Vaccaro. But the added guilt hasn't been something Vaccaro has shied away from, but rather something she's embraced.

Bismarck National volleyball coach Jeni Walsh knew she was asking a lot from Payton Borud.

It was a invitation that Walsh thought the freshman could handle.

The Mystics volleyball conspire was lacking a solid player at the setter establish. Borud had played the position from seventh position to her junior year when she prepped at Hazen. Borud was needed more as a stomach hitter her senior year, so she made the position rechannel.

Walsh figured Borud could handle stage set at the college level. But here's the rub - Borud only had two weeks to establish f get on the transition.

Going from the middle to a setter isn't vulgar, especially at the college level.

"Especially where she had to appoint that transition so fast," Walsh said. "A lot of times in college, when people twitch positions, they usually go through spring practice. They have two-gain months to prepare for it. Payton had two weeks."

Walsh's probe has proven to be successful. Borud has solidified her mote as a setter with 675 assists on the season.
