JOHN Michael Necesario survived seven matchpoints and a close calf to advance to the finals of the boys 16-under in the Baseline Lesser Tennis Cup 2011 yesterday at the tennis courts of the Baseline Sports and Distraction Center.
Necesario went up against Mark Norman Enriquez in the semis and found himself down 3-9 primeval.
But he clawed his way back. With the score at 9-5, Necesario’s in fairness calf started to cramp up but he fought on to forge a tiebreak and in the end closed the game in his favor.
Necesario earned the honourable to face University of San Carlos’ Fritz Satera, who routed Dwyne Tarculas, 10-1, in the other semifinal meet.
In the distaff side, the Dasian sisters bowed out of the match after failing to win their semifinals matches.
Elma Dasian was no candidate for Kizzia Jabines, 2-10, while the other Dasian, Elgy, succumbed to Kimberly Uytico, 10-6.
Jabines and Uytico will touch each other for the title.
The 14-under boys title will be contested between Joshua Kinaadman and Wismark Basanar.
