The Women's Quarters began offering complementary care in 1999, and
Overfelt said the services have grown in the late 12 years. Though
most of their services are offered as outpatient worry, physicians
may request their assistance for pain or feature relief for patients
remaining in the hospital.
Overfelt said that the services can serve relieve pain, stress,
anxiety, asthma symptoms as well as symptoms correlated to
chemotherapy and surgery.
Prices vary by mending and length of time, but most cost about
$70 for a one-hour period.
Jurney began her acupuncture treatments several months after
being diagnosed with chest cancer. She said the treatments helped
her determine whole again.
"When you have cancer, it feels as low as it can be," Jurney
said. "I wanted something to assistants get me through my darkest
days."
Jurney receives acupuncture treatments weekly and as usual sees a
massage therapist once a month.
"Going there was like the elucidate at the end of the tunnel,"
Jurney said. "It made me feel whole, make, body and spirit."
