Medical books?

I like to read books that are medical related. I read Lifelines by CJ Lyons and thought it was really good. I just can't really think of any others that I haven't read already. If you have any suggestions, Thanks!

Kansas Book Festival in Topeka on Saturday

After a three-year hiatus, the Kansas Book Celebration is back, and this time it's in Topeka. The festival is Saturday at the Kansas Museum of Portrayal in Topeka.

The festival's goal is to celebrate the crush of Kansas literature, and will feature presentations by numerous Kansas authors, including David Eisenhower, grandson of President Eisenhower, who will address with David Nichols of Winfield, a historian who has written extensively on the Eisenhower presidency.

Also appearing will be Wichita's Clare Vanderpool, whose "Moon Over Express" won the Newbery Medal and was named a 2011 Kansas Celebrity Book. The 2011 Kansas Notable Hard-cover winners will be presented as part of the festival, in a ceremony at noontime.

Also on the festival slate are panel discussions, publication-signings, vendor booths and a tent with projects for children.

Kansas first lady Mary Brownback organized the actuality, which she said "will promote literacy and encourage a viability-long love of reading by bringing authors, publishers and illustrators together with the people of Kansas."

Dr. Kiki Hurt's New Book Puts Patients in Control of Their Health ...

CHICAGO and LOS ANGELES, Jan. 25, 2010 — All too many times, Dr. Kiki Hurt has seen tragic loss of life that could have been prevented had the patient or the patient’s family known some simple facts about health emergencies. With the release of Mini Medical School Mini Book 1 ( http://www.hurtmd.com/Products.html ), Dr. Hurt has taken steps to help people everywhere know when to seek immediate medical attention — and save their own lives.

Now in its second printing due to high demand, Mini Medical School Mini Book 1 makes medical information understandable and accessible to anyone. Each chapter is just two pages long and includes a concise summary for those who prefer at-a-glance information. Full-color illustrations help visual learners get the most out of the book, and Dr. Hurt has provided sections designed to give readers a basic understanding of how the human body works.

“Until now, people haven’t been educated to know when something is wrong with their health,” explained Dr. Hurt, who divides her time between Chicago and Los Angeles as an internist, anesthesiologist and critical care physician. “Mini Medical School Mini Book 1 is the first in a series of books to teach readers the difference between non-emergency situations and imminently life-threatening conditions.”

Mini Medical School Mini Book 1 helps readers recognize the symptoms of heart attacks, strokes and other emergency medical conditions and explains exactly what to do, before and after calling 911, should those symptoms arise. When patients are armed with that information, said Dr. Hurt, they can take steps during the emergency that can preserve their heart, kidneys, liver function and brain function, get them out of the hospital in a few days instead of a few months, and ultimately save their lives.

“Because Mini Medical School Mini Book 1 includes both emergency medical information and the basics of the human body, it can serve as a lifelong resource for people who want to take charge of their health,” Dr. Hurt stated. “After reading the book, a patient will be comfortable asking his or her physician any question that comes to mind and essentially become the leader of his or her own health care team.”
